Wax Museum

Each year in 6th Grade at Lakeside Elementary, the kids do a report and a project about a mythical figure. The have to do extensive research, write a report, draw pictures and finally, come up with a costume about their character. After it is all done, they have a "Wax Museum" day where they dress up and stand in front of their backdrop which they draw and give a speech as if they were a wax character in a museum. They each created a little button that we pushed as we would walk by and they would give their speech. Otherwise, they just stood still like a statue. Cooper's character was Achilles. He did an awesome job with everything and it was so fun to see him and his classmates. I was really amazed at how well everyone did and how serious they took it. I tried to talk to Coop as he was doing his museum statue and he refused to respond. It was great!

I feel so lucky that my kids have such wonderful opportunities and I am so grateful for great teachers that take the time they need to give them the chance to have such cool learning experiences.

Still as stone.

This is Coopers backdrop which he drew and chalked.

The following pictures are of some of his classmates in character.

Wow. What a fun idea. The kids really seem to take it seriously, which is awesome!
