The finale was really special. It was "let there be peace" and all the girls came in and then held up signs that spelled out Peace.

Christmas Dance Recital
It's Recital Time! These girls work so hard and it's so fun to see them perform. We are so very proud of them! It was Conlie's first recital and she was extremely cute! Cam, as always, was a beautiful dancer as well. It was so wierd to see Conlie dance, it just took me back to Cambrie's first recital and how time has gone by so fast. I have to admit I shed a tear or two. Unfortunately, we will have to use our mental images to record her first experience. Chon is my awesome camera-man and was all set to record her and the camera wouldn't focus so after he fidgeted and half the dance was over..finally he was recording, then after 5 seconds the tape stopped!!! Dang! Well, we have good memories!

Reflections Winner!
Cambrie entered the school Reflections contest this year and was one of the winners! The Theme was "Together We Can....". Right when she got the information about the theme, her creative wheels were turning and she had a vision of what she was going to do. She chose to enter 3D art and focus on recycling and making the earth beautiful. As many of you know, Cambrie is a very creative child with a talent for art. She has a passion for any kind of artwork or anything crafty (did not get this trait from her mother). Anyway, she has entered every year and has always done a great job but has never won, and finally she did. I imagine the job of the judges is very difficult because so many people work so hard on their entries.
We are very proud of her. She worked so hard on this project and spent hours and hours on it. Great Job Cam! You did awesome!
She mainly used clay to do her project. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures but she got so detailed and just put a lot of effort into it.
The little garden is my favorite part of the project. I just thought it was so cute.

Cambrie's Crazy Feet
Cambrie has been having a lot of pain in her feet over the last 6 months to a year. She also has weird bumps and protrusions on her feet. It is all getting worse so I finally decided to take her to the doctor. We saw an orthopedic doc who specializes in feet and ankles. She had x-rays and turns out her feet are quite a mess.
First, she has bunions (seriously? at 9 years old?). They are not painful for her and with her still having a lot of growing to do, the doctor said isn't a good idea to do anything about that.
Second, she has quite a few extra (mutant) bones on the inside and outside of her feet. The one on the inside left is the most painful and really the reason why we went in to the doctor. These are the bones that are the cause of her pain.
Third, she is very flat-footed which also causes pain. There is a ligament running from the knee to the bottom of the foot and it is not working properly because it is attached to the bone that isn't supposed to be there. There were a few options to start with and one was to cast the foot for a few weeks and see if that can lift the ligament enough to decrease or stop the pain. It seems like it may be a temporary fix but I feel like she will end up having surgery to remove the extra bone (at least the one causing the most pain) and have the ligament re-attached to the correct bone. She will also most likely have to have a screw placed to help things stay in place while she grows. This would most likely have to be removed later because it tends to cause pain as years go by. I hate for her to have to go through this especially if it involves surgery but it needs to be fixed. She can't live on Ibuprofen and elevating her leg, especially being an active kid.
What an ordeal! This is a very large problem for a dancer! Hopefully it's just a minor bump in the road and she will be back at it very soon.

Cute Orange cast (I was honored to be the first one to sign it).

Helping out at Grandma and Grandpa Gaileys
We had the opportunity to go to my grandma and grandpa Gailey's home and help lay rocks down in their flower beds. It was perfect working weather and everyone pitched in so well to help. I was so proud of Cooper and Cambrie and how hard they worked and never complained! They told me they had fun. On the way home Conlie just out of the blue said "mom, I had a good time". I thought that was cute! Weird thing though....why is it so much fun to work when we aren't at home but when we are home it's like a punishment?
Oh what do you do in the Summertime??
Well I guess for us, what we do in the summertime is go to the Eye Doctor and wait in the waiting room. We were there for TWO HOURS today and I just thought the kids were so cute all doing their reading. Conlie had the entire waiting room entertained. The bad part of the whole thing was that Cooper and Cambrie both have very bad eyesight and they both got worse this year (thanks bad genes from Carrie).
